Your privacy on SwapForNeed
Effective October 25, 2026
SwapForNeed is a service for exchanging items without payments. This policy explains the information handled by the app and website. For privacy questions, contact usabusinesspartners@gmail.com.
Information you provide
- Your account name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, not readable passwords.
- Item titles, descriptions, wish lists, selected photos, condition, and town or area.
- Trade offers, replies, completion confirmations, blocks, reports, and unread-message markers.
- Messages you choose to send to customer support by email.
Photo access is optional. A selected photo is uploaded only when you publish or update a listing. The native app can offer a camera or photo picker; access requires your device permission. The service does not request your contacts or precise GPS location. Avoid entering your full home address or sensitive information in listings or messages.
What other people can see
Listings are public and show the name you use, your town or area, item details, and photo. The two people in an offer can read their conversation and exchange history. A completed item pair is public for three days after both participants confirm, then leaves public item and photo routes. Messages are not included in the completed-swaps feed. Operators can access stored information when providing support, reviewing reports, or maintaining the service; conversations are not end-to-end encrypted.
How information is used
We use information to run accounts, listings, matches, messages, exchanges, reporting, account recovery, security checks, and support. There are no advertising or analytics SDKs in this version. We do not sell your information or track you across other companies’ apps.
Storage and service providers
The service runs on Render, which processes hosting and network information to deliver it. App stores and your device platform handle downloads and permissions under their own policies. The website currently requests fonts from Google Fonts; that request includes ordinary network information such as your IP address. Email support is handled through Gmail. These providers may process information outside your country.
Sessions and security
A session cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. The native app uses the platform’s HTTP cookie storage for the same purpose. Login attempt limits and recovery-code hashes help protect accounts. HTTPS protects data in transit. Keep your password and recovery code private.
Retention and deletion
Active account information remains until you delete it or the service removes it. Expiring a completed swap from the public feed does not delete its private history. You can delete your account here or from account settings. Deletion removes your name, email, credential access, recovery code, photos, listing descriptions and location, and the content of your messages and offers from the active database. It removes blocks and read markers associated with your account and signs out your sessions. Minimal anonymous exchange records remain to preserve the other participant’s history. Information other people copied or screenshots they saved is outside the service’s control.
Hosting and operational logs may be retained by service providers for their operations and security. Contact support with access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests. We may need to verify that a request relates to your account. No email verification or automatic email recovery service is currently configured; save an account recovery code.
Adults and policy updates
This pilot is for people 18 and older. Do not create an account for a child. If you believe a child’s information has been submitted, contact support. Material policy updates will be posted here.
