Created by Zack, a neighbor in Torrance, California, the SwapForNeed app and website grew from neighbors’ requests for a simple way to exchange things they no longer use for things they truly need.
Someone may have an almost-new hoverboard they no longer use and need Christmas lights. Another neighbor may have those lights and want a hoverboard. A good swap gives both items a new purpose and helps both people.
Our goal is to make useful swaps easier, keep good things in use, and help neighbors meet everyday needs.
How it works

Say what you need
Tell neighbors what you would like in return and look for a match.
Agree, meet, and swap
Make an offer, arrange the details in your Inbox, and meet in a public place. Inspect both items before exchanging them. Confirm completion in the app after the swap.
Pure trade, no trade fees
SwapForNeed does not buy or sell your items or take a fee from your exchange. You and the other person agree on a swap that works for you both.
A community worth caring for
This service is for adults 18 and older. Follow the Community rules, keep personal details private, and use Report or Block member if something is wrong. Contact confirmation checks access to an email address or phone number; it does not verify a person’s identity or an item’s condition.
